HMY Airways To HNL And OGG - Its Official!

Wed Apr 07, 2004 10:01 am

Hi Everyone,
Latest press release from HMY Airways (06Apr2004 appr. 1600 hrs) confirmed their new schedule services to Honolulu and Maui.
Starting June 25, HQ will have three flight per week to HNL and one per week to OGG. It will then grow to daily to HNL, and three times per week to OGG as of December 12.
A special introductory fares one way to HNL at CA$269.00 and CA$299 to OGG. These one time only special has no restrictions on minimum or maximum stays. Very important to note is that HMY Airways is the first major airline in Canada to introduce all one way fares, and no Saturday night stay required (since all are one way fares !!). Just book whatever is available on desired return date then combine the fares and it becomes your 'return' air fares plus tax. Simple and easy to use.
With HQ finally set their wings into Hawaii, it has completed one of the two corporate objectives (the other is to service China). Gaining 180 minutes ETOPS is no simple matter, it requires top quality in flight operations and maintaince. It also requires a good track record of safety and meeting very demanding MOT-CA rules for ETOPS. A good show for HQ indeed.

With that many flights to Hawaii they wont have a problem building the time/experience required for the extended ETOPS stuff...unless they have trouble with the Hawaii's...hehe...well anyway good news, and great fares...I cant imagine they will last..thats not a lot of money for a lot of flight...

Great news for HQ and even better news for the Canadian aviation industry!

Astral,

Are these fares based on departure from YVR or does it include prices from YYZ? And when do you have to travel by?

Hi,
These fares are 'INTRODUCTORY' and thus is limited in booking time. If you want it, the hurry up !! With AC possible going under, would you like to plan you October sun vacation with flying AC ??
The word will spread as of tomorrow morning, so you better hurry up to book. I think you can start booking as of 2400 hrs tonight on web. Or best book with your travel agent - give some support to the travel agency community - they deserve it.
So far YYZ is not yet on, I will find out tomorrow morning as to when. I was told because there is a change in flight number in YVR (same plane, but you pre-clear US Custom in YVR), and thus they still have to work on the connecting fares. I am 100% sure they will include YYZ.

Cool, another airline for us in Hawaii to see and a Canadian one. It'll be good to see another Canadian airline other than AC.

Hopefully HMY will start SFO up. That would be totally awesome.

Will we be able to book HNL - YVR flights that are cheaper than AC?

Way to go Harmony, now all we need is for them to buy some more aircraft, and start the asia routes.

Were you at the meeting yesterday Astral? Seems HMY has a clear direction for the foreseeable (sp?) future.

North America to Hawaii requires 180 min ETOPS. So they already have it, or will by the time they start service. There is no land between the big island and the California coast, around Vandenberg AFB if I remember correctly.

More inroads to an otherwise AC-dominant route. A great move for HMV after the exit of Skyservice from this market.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.
