UA 767-300s

Wed Apr 07, 2004 12:37 pm

How are the UA 767-300s? I know they have PTVs, but how are the UA 767s compared to the AA ones? Would I be better off IAD-EZE on the UA, or the MIA-EZE on AA?

I flew on UA 763 International IAD-AMS and thought they were very nice.. Like you said the PTVs and all. The seating was 2-3-2 it felt very comfortable, especially if you get econ + . I flew AA 763 from DFW-LAX and was not too impressed. No PTVs just a wide body (I was also in the very middle seat) But that was a domestic flight so not sure how they have their configuration. I would go with United based on my past experience with their 763 International. I thought it was better than the 777 even. Those are my thoughts.

depends on where your trip starts, for the connection to mia or iad, but i'd go with united. If you are on this sight you are into flying and united's channel nine is a great way for the passengers intersted in flying to get more involved in the trip. have a great time on vacation

I flew UA 767300 from LHR to JFK. Loved it. Several reasons. The 2-3-2 seems less cramped than the 2-5-2. The PTV's were a nice treat which I did not expect so it was a surprise when I got on. Then the Channel 9 was the clincher--at Heathrow, through Ireland was fantastic, then rather quiet until Moncton.

I would go with UA based on previous experience. Plus, I have always found UA f/a's to be friendliest around.

Definitely UA, though I've never flown on AA's 763, so I can't offer a comparison for you.

However, I have flown on several UA 763's for transatlantic service, and they're great. Channel 9 availability of course depends on the captain of your particular flight.

Are the UA 763s all ER's? Photographs all say they are -322ERs, but the newer 767s like N66(>6 or maybe >7)UA have not been seen in Europe on airliners.net, jetphotos.net, or planepictures.net. Does this mean that some of them are -322D's, not -322ERs??? Or does UA already have more -322ERs than necessary for their international flights?

I rode a 763 DEN-LAX. Of course that was the domestic configuration (read: sans PTV). Channel 9 kept me happy. The interior was clean and bright. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

I am agreeing with the majority here, and say that the UA 767-300's are very comfortable. Have flown across the pond a few times on them and they are comfortable for a long flight, especially in E+. The only downer compared to the 777 is the slightly smaller choice of IFE channels.
Haven't been with AA so can't compare.

I haven't flown AA yet, but the UA 763s are great. They offer an amazing amount of room, even in regular Economy. And if you can get into Economy Plus, it'll be a worry-free flight. Check out http://www.seatmaps.net for more information.

The only downer compared to the 777 is the slightly smaller choice of IFE channels.

If you are speaking in regards to the video selection, United offers the same number of video channels (9) on both the Boeing 767-300ER and Boeing 777.

However, in regards to the audio selection – the 777 has more than double the channels of the 767-300ER: 20 vs. a measly 8.

I am biased towards AA, but I'm going to be impartial in this matter. UA OWNS AA in the 763's. UA carries the PTV's which obviously makes it more comfortable for pax. I've taken an AA 763 from DFW to HNL, and I was sort of expecting PTV's for a 8 hour flight. I was greatly mistaken. AA has a main screen projector with additional tv's dropped throughout the cabin. Although, if your a bookworm, or just rather listen to your cd player, MRTC on AA is also nice perk. If you get UA economy plus, then its even more enjoyable on UA.

Definatly go with United, moderately sized PTV's, Channel 9, and 90% of the time, great quality service. Also try to get an Economy Plus seat if your with the Mileage Plus programme, if not, an emergency exit window seat is just as good. Happy Travels!!

All of UA's 767-300s are, in fact, ER models...

...but many ships have had their tankage removed when possible and their engines downrated for domestic service.
