Biz Class @ ATR-42/72?

Thu Apr 08, 2004 9:04 am

Hi!

I was wondering if it is possible for airlines operating the ATR's to install Business Class on their a/c's. Does anyone have any examples, perhaps pictures? Thanks.

As far as I know, no airlines configure thier ATR's with a business configuration.

Interstingly though, ATR does offer their aircraft in a corporate version.

BA, CSA and LH Regional come to mind. It really is the same seats but with a different headrest and sometimes (BA) more pitch (BA has about half the seats at 32" and the rest for EuroTraveller at 30". The seats on the BA ones go from the back row forward as they are near the entry door.

Here is one from CSA. Note the token "Business Class" logo on the curtain. Don't think much differs from Y class cabin wise but obviously the service would be different.

If you are asking could an ATR have like a 1-2 arrangement I think it usually means separate seat tracks as on the CRJ. Quite expensive and not necessarily possible.

As Miami1 said, business class on a ATR in Europe flying for instance for CSA, Lufthansa Regional or EuroLOT is the same seats with a different headrest and sometimes better pitch. Interestingly, it is often in the back of the cabin (last few rows). This is because boarding is throught the back. The door is in the back of an ATR and the bagage compartment is between the cabin and the cockpit, on one side. Strange arrangement.
