SpaceShipOne Approved By The FAA

Fri Apr 09, 2004 1:20 am

Seems to me like Scaled Composites might well win the XPrize!

A great opportunity to deliver on aviation promises made back in the 50s and 60s!

Great, I think Rutan will win the Xprize. Finally his space ship one performs better than Carmack's Black Armadillo.
I wonder when we will need the new forum spaceliners.net?

This is GREAT news. Now they've gotten up to Mach 2 and 100,000 plus feet, and I am looking forward to when they blast off into suborbital space. I could see the first suborbital "spaceline" within 5-7 years. Virgin Spacelines? Or maybe Paul Allen will start it? Between this, the X-43, and other developments I'm pretty optimistic about us finally getting regular tourist spaceflights and hypersonic hops across the oceans.

Bring it on!

I think Armadillo plans captive hover tests this week, weather pending? I'm a Dallas native and I love a good underdog... so go Armadillo!

But this is great news for Scaled... I just hope they do something with the concept after they win, instead of drop it and move on like Rutan says. I'd be a damn shame to win the prize then stop, to me that'd be like winning a Nobel prize just to put it on a wall.

Wouldn't the President have to be on board to call it Space Ship One?  Big thumbs up
