I've flown both aircraft and there really isn't a whole lot of difference between them. As outlined above the US 762s are showing their age. They don't have the great PTVs the US A330s do. The food was forgetable, the cabin crew pretty standard. The flights are generally high load and low yield. I missed a PHL
flight at the start of September and the next available confirmed seat on the same flight was 5 days away. (So I got rerouted through Boston with EI
. If you're on an A332 there's a one in three chance it'll be EI
and you'll have PTVs. The food on EI
is nothing special and now they even charge for alcohol on transatlantic flights. I've always found the EI
cabin crews to be pretty mixed ; there's always a few surly ones and there's always at least one who'll bend over backwards to help you.
From a frequent flyer perspective EI
is really awful unless you can get an AA
codeshare ticket and get AAdvantage miles. US Air's program is a lot more generous.
Another thing that might be relevant is that EI
allows no Laser controlled devices on board in flight which means no CD
players, Minidisc players or DVD players. USair allows all of the above in flight. I mention it because it makes a big difference to some.
As for the EI332s looking pretty beaten up I'd say you are confusing them with EI
333s. The 332s are pretty new and are generally in great condition.
