Well the media is at it again, making the same stupid mistakes they always make. Who can spot the error in this article? Hopefully Alaskan Airlines won't picket to soon.
DETROIT, April 9 (UPI) -- Machinists, mechanics and flight attendants picketed outside a terminal at Detroit's airport Friday to protest cuts at Northwestern Airlines.
"The management has been treating Detroit workers very badly," Robert DePacs, president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers told the Free Press. The union represents nearly 3,000 Northwest reservations agents, baggage handlers, customer service agents, cleaners and others in Detroit.
Northwest, the No. 4 U.S. airline, has lost $2.2 billion since 2001 and asked the Machinists for a 2 percent pay cut.
Informational pickets from the Machinists' union, Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association and the Professional Flight Attendants Association were joined by members of Teamsters and United Auto Workers outside McNamara Terminal.
Northwest has laid off about 3,500 mechanics and employees say the airline continues to outsource aircraft maintenance to other firms.
