Great stuff.

I especially like the shots toward the middle of the shadow first, then the plane coming into view. And of course the KLM 747.

Thanks for the entertainment,

Cheers

Excellent video. Wish I could just go to my local airport and do that. Not that I want to see a ERAU Cessna land every 2 minutes!

Fantastic ending by the way, perfect way to end such a great video.

I just shot it with a Canon Elura 50, but it was mostly shot in bad light so it suffers a little. I have a lot of better clips, much of this was actually outtakes for a project I was doing.

Arsyman.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Always nice to see KLM blue 5000 miles from home gliding in for a greaser landing!

One tip I have learned. Make a shoulder support for your panning shots. A very effective way [almost produces steady cam quality!!] and very simple and cheap, is to use a beam of approx 3ft length. Get a camera mount head at your local photoshop dealer to connect your camera to this beam. Make a nice pad under the beam that nicely sits ON your should; not against your shoulder like a shot gun, but ON/OVER your shoulder. This now will ensure that your panning shots look like pro-steady-shots. It's just amazingly good.
Even better would be to use a small/light beam [wood or preferably aluminum], and mount two 1 lb weights on either end. This will increase stability even better. The longer the beam, the better stability you'll have. The length of the beam is determined by your comfort level [and level of attention you want to draw from law enformcement officers . . . ].
You can all make this yourself [except maybe the camera mount head], and gives you high quality shots for low price!

PW100, While I appreciate the tips, I do not take filming all that seriously. That said, if I showed up at Lee Road with what you suggest, the cops would down me for trying to take down a plane with some shoulder launched rocket system... long before I managed to film aircraft...

thanks though

thanks for sharing. And as PW100 said, it is great to see a KLM747 smoke some rubber in IAH thousands of miles away from home.

Not sure if you can see it on the smaller video, but check the rudder action on the KLM plane, it is violently swinging back and forth.. not good

Yeah, just realized that law enforcement officers at AMS are a little more relaxed . . . Texas sherrif might not be so understanding.

Please share more of your videos, great stuff!

Indeed very nice video, Jeremy.

As you stated earlier concerning equipment. I too am keeping my still photo gear for the time being, very simple. No 400mm or 300mm 2.8 glass or tripods at Lee Rd for the time being. Even before 9/11 I would get a lot of questions concering those huge lenses.
