Manchester-Dundee Service

Tue Apr 13, 2004 6:39 pm

I seem to recall that a non-stop service operated between Manchester and Dundee, using some relatively small aircraft. Does anyone have details of this? Was it BD with a SF3? There is currently no scheduled service between the two cities. Is this indicative of the level of demand, or is the demand not being supplied?

It was Air Ecosse with a Bandeirante, way back in the 80's!

Business Air flew to Dundee via EDI (or perhaps it was GLA) and to Aberdeen via GLA (or EDI, may have mixed the two up) using SF3s. I flew them to GLA and EDI. Good service - on their afternoon flights they served cold cuts (often smoked salmon) with complimentary champagne or wine.

Can anybody remember the two letter code for Business Air? Somehow II (as mentioned by GKirk above) does not ring a bell with me.

Business Air's code was II, though they were eventually transformed in British Midland Commuter (now known as bmi regional) and had the BD code on flights instead.
