Wed Apr 14, 2004 1:51 am

From the wires:

Malaysian flight makes emergency landing in Chennai

CHENNAI: An Abu Dhabi-bound Malaysian Airlines flight made an unscheduled emergency landing at the Chennai international airport here on Tuesday morning as a snag was noticed in one of the engines, airport sources said.

All the 120 passengers of the Airbus were safe, the sources said.

Fire brigade, and other emergency services were kept ready during the landing.

The pilots detected the fault during the course of the flight.

All the passengers have been accommodated in different hotels in the City, the sources said.

The aircraft would leave for Abu Dhabi after the defect in the engine was set right, they added.

I read it was bound for DXB (MH090), with a 777. It's good to see no one was hurt.

Actually, it was an A332 MH156 bound for DXB & BEY. Rescue team already there now and aircraft will return to KUL today.
