Anyone Going To MAN Tomorrow Or Fri?

Thu Apr 15, 2004 7:01 am

Will anyone be at MAN tomorrow? I will be there for 2 days (staying overnight) - tomorrow and Friday. I leave at 0217 and arrive into MAN at 0545, just in time for sunrise at 0611. Hopefully it will be quite mild. I wonder whether I'm dedicated or stupid or both, but it'll certainly be fun and enjoyable. If you're going, I might see you there!

I was planning on going on Friday if the weather is ok, to get a final fix of the action before I return to Uni. As I won't have a car I will most likely only venture as far as the Aviation viewing park. If you're about still I might see you there.  Smile

I presume you mean the area near the runways, and not the car park? I would ask what you will wear - so I know what to look out for - but as you're a bloke you probably don't yet know.  Laugh out loud

I may be there Friday, complete with car, all depends on the weather.

I was just in Manchester today for a day trip for work and noticed a USAirways 757 near the FLS hangar. Does anyone know what it is doing there? I'm assuming it's a lease or something and not operating a US transatlantic flight???

Cheers .

Looks like Saturday's your best bet.

Britair, that US Airways 757 is for First Choice Airways, it was delivered a few weeks ago and I don't think its due in service for a few months.

I seen the weather forecast for tomorrow, it looks like being overcast with the odd shower. Exactly like it is now as I look out of my window. Not like I expected clear blue skies though, it is Manchester.

Hi there,

Yeah, I had an EXCELLENT time at MAN, even though I often visit the place.

I stayed at the superbly-located Airport Hotel, where the arrivals (on 24R) were about 100-200ft away, i.e. very close indeed. It was very exciting. I STRONGLY recommend this place if they're landing on 24R, especially as it's a mere 20 pounds for a single room!

On the Thursday, there were a few interesting visitors, including a Saudi AF Herc and an RAF Herc.

I was at MAN last friday, although I never saw your Pe@rson unless you were the guy I got talking to on top of the T1 carpark who was also staying at the Airport Hotel and flying to Alicante the following morning. Shame the weather was a bit crap, but I did manage to see the Man City FC photoshoot for their new kit infront of a Thomas Cook 757.
