Better Food In Business Class On SAS.

Fri Apr 16, 2004 2:22 am

Just got a euro bonus mail with the following info:

DANISH: "Fra den 14. april får maden på SAS Business Class et løft. På alle ruter med servering vil der fremover også blive serveret dessert, og på udvalgte ruter bliver portionerne større. Anretningerne vil også blive ledsaget af lækkert italiensk brød, ligesom kvaliteten af råvarerne også bliver bedre "

"From April 14. the standard of food on SAS Business Class will receive a lift. On all routes with food servings there will now also be served dessert, and on chosen routes, the portions will be larger. The meals will also include a delicious Italian bread, like wise the quality of food will also be higher."

Loosely translated...

So for you on business class LUCKY BASTARDS!!  Big grin

More and better food in Y-class instead! That is my solution! C-class passengers do not pay their tickets themself (most of them)... And close Copenhagen and move all SAS operations to Stockholm. That will give MORE money over to spend on food & drinks. Danish SAS workers only go to strike and that cost a lot!!!

Well, I actually paid for RTW J class Star Alliance ticket last year. The food on intra-European flights on SAS was a major joke. I am sorry... I am paying money to fly business class and have someone an expectation. For a dinner flight from CPH to LHR, we were offered a printed menu card, but the meal was a piece of warmed pork chop on top of a tomato pasta orzo salad with some unidentified tomato paste, a box of chocolate and warmed bread roll. That was really bad...

So I am glad that they finally do something...

However, I will like to argue that on intra-European flights, these major airlines are not charging cheap business fares by any means, so I think the airlines really have to serve a nice meals at all time. The situation is not the same as in the United States, and I guess whether company or personal travel, it is really not SAS business. Business travellers have to work during flight or right after flight, so I understand why company feels important to give their employees opportunities to fly business class.

Maybe through improving business class service, SAS can attract more premium and corporate customers. As we all notice, the trend is more improvments in premium travels and more cutbacks in coach. I don't see this trend going anytime soon.
