I recently flew on a 737-400 with AS. Its reg is N754AS. I noticed that all the seats had headphone ports on them. I've been flying with Alaska since the late 80's and have never known them to have IFE. I checked with and it shows that AS is the original operator of that plane but the Boeing customer code is Q8, which is not Alaska's code.

So, does anybody know where this plane came from that it has audio systems in the seats?

I am pretty sure that 754 was one of the planes
purchased by ILFC. It was the first 737-400 delivered
to Alaska and bears the name "Spirit of Alaska" on the fuselage
below the flight deck window.
Not sure why this one would have had audio ports on it though.
First, benzene in my Perrier, and now this!

HikesWithEyes is correct, Most of AS's 734's are leased (the designation being Q8 for the international Lease and Finance corporation I think). I remember that I was on a MD-80 circa 1991 and it head music, although it may have been a NW flight, I was too young to remember correctly.

I've been on N754AS a couple times and recall noticing the audio controls. Not sure if I've seen them on any other 734s. I'm surprised they have not been plated over or removed. I did try to plug in a pair of headphones one time, but there wasn't any musak.
