NYC To YYZ - Which Airline?

Sun Apr 18, 2004 9:39 am

Hi!

I'm new to this site. . but look forward to interacting with many of you. . .

Quick question. .

I have recently relocated to New York City from Toronto, Canada. Granted NYC is served by 3 airports, I'm trying to determine which airline to take. From your past experiences, do you have any preference to an airline from NYC to YYZ? I live pretty equally distant from the 3 airports (LGA, JFK, EWR). I realize that it's a short flight, but I might as well enjoy my time.

So far. . I've flown on:

EWR - YYZ - on Air Canada (didn't particularly enjoy the service)
EWR - YYZ - on Jetsgo (not too bad - plane was old)
EWR - YYZ - on Continental (good flight)

Thanks in advance!

Try Delta Airlines from JFK to YYZ. They dont have a bad service. I did not fly this route, but friend of mine did, and he said that he really enjoyed the flight and plane.

I believe Canjet is another alternative.

Welcome aboard!

My choice would be Air Canada. Their service seems to be the best out of all the choices out there, plus they have excellent frequencies from both JFK and EWR. Frequencies are important, especially when there is a huge delay, since you can more easily catch the next flight. Also, Air Canada's fares are very competitive with the others on this route.

You can always try Jetsgo again from EWR, especially since their prices tend to be the lowest.

Canjet will also be flying from New York to Toronto shortly, but I forget the details at this time.

Of course, there's always AA too.

Jetsgo does have low prices but the OTP of this airline seems to be quite ridiculous. At least into yhz it is. And let's not forget that the guy running this airline also ran Royal and Inter Canadien. Not exactly well respected airlines.

Captaingomes, FYI - Air Canada doesn't fly to JFK from YYZ. There is only one daily AC flight at JFK, JFK-YVR, and one daily JFK-YYZ flight, on DL Connection.

I'm sorry, you're right. I should have said La Guardia. Thanks.

Here's the options:

YYZ-LGA
AA/Eagle 7 daily
AC 10 daily
Canjet 1 daily

YYZ-JFK
DL Connection 1 daily

YYZ-EWR
AC 5-6 daily
CO/COEx 5 daily
Jetsgo 2 daily
=================

For service, I would pick AA or CO
For frequency, I would pick AC
For supporting the "little guy", I would pick Canjet/C6.

Yhz78 - I would have to agree with you. . the OTP of Jetsgo is brutal. The few times that I've flown the green happy face. . . I've never actually left on time! ARGH!

Yyz717 - thanks for the low down! I haven't tried AA yet, so I do believe it's time to take a chance. To be honest with you, I would be more inclined to fly AC if it was flying into the new Terminal 1. But, since I would be subjected to Terminal 2. . I would rather choose Terminal 3 - I guess just a nicer atmosphere.

Unfortunately, like many Canadian travelers, I have been subjected to an awful taste of AC. The countless times that I've traveled with them, I have been left with the impression that they were doing me a duty by flying AC. As much as I try to be loyal to AC, they seem to disappoint me continously.

I would go Continental - they have the most friendly service and accpetable frequencies from EWR. Both their 737 and ERJ service are good.

Jetsgo is never on time for some reason (no priority takeoffs at EWR?), especially during afternoon flights or that dreaded once-daily Sunday service.

I'd too would go with CO. You'll more than likely have an on-time flight as well as clean planes and extremely friendly service. Ass an added bonus you will get to leave from their newly renovated terminal C in EWR. What ever you choose, hope you have a great flight. Welcome to Airliners.net.

CO flies the 735/73G primarily on EWR-YYZ. Occasionally ERJ.

AA 3 daily M80's and 4 daily ERJ.

AC mix of 319/320.

I would fly Air Canada from LGA. I recently flew AC, and I though the flight was actually pretty nice. I believe (this is just my opinion) that AC is one of the better airlines in terms of service in North America.

US express does not fly LGA-YYZ. They do, however, fly LGA-YUL

Vingt20Cent -

I'm always perplexed by topics such as these. Which airline to fly (on a flight that's a whole 55 minutes long!!)

While I have a vested interest in your choice (You know AC - "The Evil Empire"), as a smart consumer, your consideration should be price and schedule.

AC is completely fare competitive with the others, and has the most comprehensive schedule out of the NYC/EWR area.

Also perplexed by "AC--didn't enjoy the service".

On a 55 minute flight, you get a reasonably comfortable seat, complementary take away headsets, video programming, bar/beverage, and a choice of snacks on the flight. Or in the case of Executive Class a full meal appropriate to the time of day. Having flown AA and CO out of LGA/EWR -- definitely no in-flight entertainment, and not even a package of peanuts/pretzels with the beverage.

Decisions, decisions.

Rod, it can easily come down to one snooty AC checkin clerk or FA. Attitude is endemic at AC despite their being the most overpaid employees in the industry.

A correction to my previous post; US suspended YUL-LGA at the beginning of the month!
