Does this mean that BA will do all of the ground handling/check-in for AA flights now?

AA will still do the check in and gate but i think BA will do the cargo and baggage handling.

I hope so, keep all the charters in the south and keep scheduled in the north it would make a lot of sense to me.

No, First Choice Airways won't be moving terminals.
There wouldn't be space for them in the South Terminal anyway, they're by a significant margin the largest charter airline at Gatwick.

Some stats on last summer.

The data lists main Gatwick charter airlines in order of number of departures for the particular airline in that calendar month. Obviously double these figures for the total number of aircraft movements for each airline...

August 2003
First Choice Airways - 746
Thomas Cook - 595
Excel Airways - 484
Britannia - 466
Monarch - 425
MyTravel - 379
Astraeus - 172
Flyjet - 46
European Air Charter - 22
Air Atlanta Eruope - 21

July 2003
First Choice Airways - 688
Thomas Cook - 526
Britannia - 435
Excel Airways - 424
Monarch - 348
MyTravel - 333
Astraeus - 144
Flyjet - 36
European Air Charter - 25

Also, completely separtating charter/schcheduled flights generally isn't a very clever thing to do. Mixing charter and scheduled (particularly long-haul) within the same terminal makes much more efficient use of gate space. Peak charter departures are around 7-8am - leaving the gates clear for peak long-haul inbound arrivals 7-9am. Most of these long-haul flights have departed by early afternoon, which is conveniently when the first wave of morning flights arrive back in the UK.

As an aside, both Astraeus and Flyjet also use the North Terminal.

I knew this last year lol

Anyway I am soooooooooo glad that FCA don't move to SOUTH because on a sat morning in SOUTH it's charter hell. But in NORTH it's spacious and quiet,

And this is what, two years after getting their own little built in check-in desk at the South? Personally I don't like this because it will take longer to go the the rental car desks, because anything is an inconvinence after a 9 hour flight from Dallas.
Holy sh*ts and burritos.
