Another Fake Airline?

Mon Apr 19, 2004 4:53 am

I came across this new airline called MidAtlantic Airways (not the USAirways one). In the middle of the page it says to join the A-plus rewards program which is AirTran's FFP. What is the story on this? Seems quite similar to AirTran.

I think it's a case of CyberSquatting. Midatlantic Airways is the USAirways subidiary that flys the new Embraer 170's.

I think it's somebody messing around. It looks too fake. Every link on the page takes you right back to the homepage. They don't even have destinations listed.

With all of the AirTran sounding phrases on that site, makes you wonder if AirTran might be changing their name (I doubt it). The opening page's font looks a little like Republic's font on their pages.

Funny.

I could swear I've seen some of those homepage photos at the Braathens web site. They could be standard file stuff. I'll have to run over and look.

It's gotta be fake, surely.
click me!
I see this logo in the bottom right of the page.

Do you know any real airlines which have a 3rd-party website host/site maker at the bottom like that?

BitraNet is the company in question.
From their records: http://www.midatlantic-airways.com/ (Switzerland, Zurich)

Back to MidAtlantic... read this quote from the bottom of the page
MidAtlantic Airways announces new service to/from San Francisco and
Washington Reagan National Airport.

call me stupid, but a site made for somebody in Switzerland, offering flights to Reagan National? With a website which shows nothing but the homepage.

odd.  Nuts lol

Hyderabad, India.

It's probably a legitimate place...
People do outsource business to India, it's generally cheaper.
But that is quite odd.

I guess this truly is a global airline  Nuts

.. even if it don't got no places lol

Maybe it's a website in progress for an upcoming airline. It's odd, however, that they would put it online before anything is functional.

That 747 logo on the intro page before the Home page is off clip art. Airlines don't usually do that - or do they?

HELLO!!!???

I think it's a case of CyberSquatting.Cybersquatting is where you buy a domain name in the hopes that the actual company buys it from you. Midatlantic Airways is the USAirways subidiary that flys the new Embraer 170's.

Vanguard, National, Frontier for awhile...

I don't think it's cybersquatting. It's probably either a new company that hasn't gotten its government approval, or someone's project for a) school or b) ripping people off.

On the front page there is a pop-up that says that it's a new English/Welsh airline for European high-class travel.
Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it in summer school.

In addition to "This new airliner".....

"MidAtlantic will have a high standard on our flights and service."

Shouldn't it be a "high standard of service on our flights?

"Our medium and long range aircrafts will have Wireless Internet"

"Selected brads of power adapters shall be available upon request, on first serve basis." Maybe only in first?

"On MidAtlantic Boeing long haul aircraft offer we a Business Center in the sky"

The last one is the clue. I suspect that this is the work of one of our armchair airline CEO's!
