Hemus Air Getting BAe-146?

Mon Apr 19, 2004 6:06 pm

I have heard, that Hemus Air is getting 2 BAe-146. Will they replace the ageing Tu-134 fleet or are they planned for expansion? It would be sad to see the Tu-134 leaving the fleet.

The BAe-146 is a good replacement for the Tu-134 but is slower than the Russian plane.
If they need to replace them, they will. It's sad the Tu-134s are going but they are quite old.

Yes, the Tu-134 are old, but they are built like tanks! I will miss the noise and thunder on take-off.

Do a search on the forums -- search for Hemus and look for post by myself -- the first has already arrived at Sofia -- the 2nd is due anyday now.

Speaking of Hemus Air, does anyone have any pictures of its 737-300? I don't know if they have more than one, maybe they do.

According to their timetable the Tu-134 is still the sole plane used on a couple of routes. The Bae will replace it but for now it's still flying. Maybe one of their Tu-134s will be withdrawn while the other one is kept flying. The tu-134 is indeed my favorite plane and it will be sad if it goes. I think it could've kept going a couple more years.

Delyan,

They are flying them to Beirut and Dubai. This is according to their schedules they uploaded to the CRS and even on their website.

This is good news? I dont know! The Tupolev is a nice, fast, Russian-buily plane, but the 146 is it a suitable replacement? The 134's are nice, very nice, but will they withstand the test of management?

Even though, good news for the Bulgarian airline that they are expanding one way or another and hopefully will, one day fly direct YYZ-SOF like Balkan!!

BA,
the actual plane is Bulgaria Air B737. Hemus Air uses Bulgaria Air B737 to fly to Beirut. They do it under Hemus Air code share. As for Bexx Air http://www.fly-bexx.com, they are something like a travel agency that uses Hemus Air, Balkan Holidays (BHAir), and others.

Thanks for the information Delyan.

Any ideas why Hemus Air is having Bulgaria Air operate the route?

Bexx Air will be using "BAE 146 Avroliners" for their flights to Germany. They have a faked picture on their website:

The website states that the BAe 146 flights will be operated by Hemus. Until now, Bexx had to use an Airbus A320 of BH Air.

As far as I understand, Hemus Air has had BAe 146s on their AOC for quite a while as they are operating Albanian Airlines' fleet of BAe 146s.

All of these Bulgarian airlines are simply confusing. It seems that there are airlines that don't have 737s but fly them and now some other airline uses another's A320.

What's going on? Why don't they simply merge and form a proper airline?

There are 4 international carriers in Bulgaria.

Hemus Air, Air Via, Bulgarian Air Charter and Bulgaria Air. Balkan Holidays is operated by Hemus Air.

Hemus Air operates Yak-40, Tu-134, Tu-154M and a single A320. A 2nd A320 will be added soon as well the BAe-146.

Bulgaria Air operates a fleet of 4 B737. They plan to aquire another 4 B737 for more international routes.

BAC and Air Via fly charters to Western Europe with their Tu-154M.

BA,
I'm not sure why Hemus Air uses Bulgaria Air's 737. Maybe they need bigger plane to Beirut.

OD720,
wait until the low cost airlines come to Bulgaria. It will be interesting.

Vfw614,
Hemus Air has some kind of cooperation with the Albanians. I believe I few years ago, Hemus Air pilots operated the whole Albanian fleet for certain period of time. I think it was because of Kosovo or something like that.

NewSwissair,
B.A.C. is getting 2 MD-83s, too.
