London Luton Airport Goes Large on Irish Routes! 19/04/2004

With the recent announcement of Aer Arran's new Double Daily Services to Galway and Waterford, London Luton Airport now offers travellers a choice of 28 daily services to and from the Republic of Ireland and Ulster.

From 7th June Aer Arann, Ireland's premier regional airline, is increasing its frequency on both its London Luton - Galway & London Luton - Waterford services due to the huge demand and growth of the routes since they commenced operation. The airline will add a second daily flight on both routes and predicts it will carry an extra 24,000 passengers on each route over the next year.

With fares from as low as £39.99 each way including taxes, the second Luton Galway flight will depart London Luton at 2125 and Galway Airport at 1515 daily. The additional Luton Waterford service will leave London Luton at 1730 and depart Waterford at 1925 (flights will operate one hour earlier on Saturday). The flights, which will cater for business and leisure passengers, will be operated by an ATR 72 66 seater aircraft.

Speaking today Natalie Raper, London Luton Airport's Business Development Director said "Our partnership with Aer Arran has been a great success - demand has been high from the very start. First on the Galway service and then with the introduction of the Waterford route”.

“In fact Aer Arran have been so successful that they first had to introduce larger capacity aircraft to cope - and now by introducing these extra services. Naturally enough we are very pleased to be reinforcing our relationship with the airline in this way - and to offer them, and their customers, the most user friendly airport facilities in London".

Jennifer Mooney, Commercial Manager, Aer Arann added; "We are delighted to be introducing extra daily services on each of these routes, which have performed very well since their introduction. We have carried 40,000 passengers since the London Luton Galway service began in September 2002 and our London Luton Waterford route has carried over 20,000 passengers since commencing in June 2003. With current load factors of 80% on our daily flights from both cities, London Luton is proving to be a very popular destination. We look forward to growing the extra services and providing greater choice and convenience for our customers as the summer approaches.'

In addition London Luton Airport currently offers travellers 10 services daily to and from both Dublin and Belfast, making the Emerald Isle one of the airport's most popular business and leisure destinations.

Good news for Aer Arran and services between the UK and Irish regional airports.  Smile

These services to Waterford and Galway were of course one time Ryanair routes back in the days when FR had ATR42's in its fleet. Seems a long time ago now!
Like a fine wine, one gets better with age.
