Question About Registrations And Destinations?

Tue Apr 20, 2004 9:38 am

Is it any how possible to find out what exact plane you will be on when flying, is there a database of registration numbers and their destinations?

Briefly put: no.

Capacity changes, other operational issues (diversions, wx, mx, etc) means the *exact* ship that will be running a flight isn't determined until a relatively short time before flight. If you had access to an airline's internal network you could find out. But while many if not most people want to know what kind of equipment they'll be on (for seating and such), 99% of people don't give a care as to what ship number they'll be on.

Unfortunately, unless you have access to intracompany (DL, UA, AA, any airline) systems, there is no way of knowing what reg. will be where at any given time. The closest I've seen is the tracking of reg. to a particular destination and then calculating the CHANCES of that reg. coming back. I've seen this at www.virginflyer.com where you can get the chances of getting a 747, 343, 346 at a particular VS destination.

Hope this helps,
