... how can you ask your friend to divert to SYD
enroute to SIN
? Even she had the time, that's a detour of over 4000 miles! She would be shagged by the time she got to SIN
for business. Not the way to go.
My suggestions from LAX
would be 1) SINGAPORE AIRLINES' direct nonstop from LAX
on their new A340-500 aircraft. It may be a long flight, but after 13 hours on any airline between West Coast USA to Asia, a few more hours won't make the difference. However, it will make a difference if you've got to get off say in HK
and change flights to continue on to SINGAPORE.
2)CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS. Though they are excellent in terms of service, the disadvantage is that your friend has to change flights in HONGKONG and after a long flight, it is quite disorientated to do so, especially if your friend is not used to travelling long distances. That said, CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS offers a superior product that beats any american carrier. (Actually both SINGAPORE AIRLINES and CATHAY PACIFIC's service beats any one else. Period.)
Most importantly, your friend has to decide if accruing airline mileage points is important to her or not - so that she can decide which airline alliance she would like to fly with.
