Transportation From YUL To Downtown?

Tue Apr 20, 2004 11:35 am

Does anybody know if theres easy transportation from Montreal (YUL) to downtown? Subway access? Commuter Buses? How much would a taxi cost? Not sure if I'd be able to rent a car in Canada since Im under 25!!

If anybody has any information, it'd be appreciated!

Hi JetMarc,
There are several ways to go downtown from YUL.
Simplest is by the airport shuttle. I believe it leaves every hour from YUL and stops in 3 or 4 places in downtown Montreal. Check out their website for more info: http://www.admtl.com/admmaintext.jsp?idbin=211B00&pagetitle=Shuttle_Schedules

As for public transportation, there are no subways directly from YUL.
The city bus is the way to go. You have to take the 204 from YUL, and connect to the 211 at Dorval train Station. The 211 will get you downtown, at Lionel-Groulx subway (metro) station, which is the start of downtown Montreal.

Enjoy your stay!

YUL has an abundance of taxi's and there is a shuttle that runs into downtown about every fifteen minutes to Montreal, the Queen Elizabeth hotel among others come to mind as central destinations. Not even $20.00, but it's been many years since I've used the shuttle and it may not be even that much and I'm guessing in CAD. It's clean and efficient and I have found shuttle staff to be very helpful. Be mindful of the taxi drivers in Montreal from Dorval! NY cabbies have nothing on them. It's a beautiful city, but I'm just a little biased!  Big grin bonjour!

Thanks for the help everyone! I plan on visiting Montreal at least twice a month and cringe at the thought of driving the 95 miles north from Burlington VT during the winter, so I'll fly in. Thankfully CanJet will start flying from LGA soon, or I can hop on Northwest, USairways, or even jetsGO from Florida. Id rather pay for an ID90 or $25 o/w on other carriers than drive in -20 weather. The above info will help me out a lot in getting around Montreal without wheels!

As airline employees, does anybody know if I'll have problems visiting Canada frequently? Even as a US citizen? I dont want to work there or 'live' there, but would spend a lot of days off between work/trips in Montreal...

Thanks again for the help guys!!

Hey man,

don't take public transit from the airport... it's a mess and can take hours! A taxi is always $29, which is quite cheap! The shuttle bus is around $15. More info at www.admtl.com

Enjoy your stay in Quebec!
