I am looking to fly to Brazil in December on Continental's non-stop from Houston, but when I put in the date of Dec 26 it says there are no available seats, or the fare comes out to 5 thousand dollars. Well I called CO reservations and they said the seats have not been released. What does this mean? Why are they holding them? American has open seats and I found a fare of 750 USD roundtrip IAH-MIA-GRU/IAH-DFW-GRU, should I go ahead and buy that, or should I wait for CO to release their seats? I was also told by reservations that this is done for many latin american destinations during holidays, why? Can someone shed some light on this for me?
