Help! 6hr Connection At LHR!

Thu Apr 22, 2004 9:05 am

Please help! on friday I have a 6hr connection time at LHR. I will be arriving at 2pm on BA 242 (Trml 4) and connecting to EI 383 (Trml1) to Shannon, Ireland. What should I do with so much time, considering there is not much to do at trml 1?
Please HELP!

Thanks in advance!

Had a similar connection not too long ago. Just use as much time as you can transfering from T4 to T1 and after that, well there's quite a few places very good for spotting airside in T1/2, explore the gate areas, a lot can be seen as it's a rather large area with good windows and the airport is the one with the most diversity in terms of planes you could imagine!

There is a fantastic Airplane shop in the Lobby of the Sheraton Skyline hotel.
Literally hundreds of aircraft available for purchase. If you dont want to leave the airport, the spotting there is second to none.

Where is the Sheraton? Is it on the road along with all the hotels?
I have hung out on the parking garage at T1/2 for hours Take the tube one stop (Hatton Cross?) and walk through the BA hanger area. and hang out at the end of the runway Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and nip down to the Lonsdale pub in Nottinghill and "hang out".
there is economy class, business class, first class...then Concorde..pure class

I'd do what I call a "terminal walk"-

walk from one end to the other, touching the wall at each end, and enjoying the planes through the windows as you go. It's sort of a competition with less time to see if you can make it time. Take a camera and get some great shots.
I'd rather be flying (real original)

I agree with Ba97, take the Heathrow Express to Paddington, it costs about $20 one way and takes 15 min to get there. You can roam around central London, have a drink at a pub and make it make to LHR in time for you onward connection. Staying at LHR you will get bored after 2 hours.
