My Opinion here at Virgin Atlantic:
744 Lots of space. Galleys large and well designed although for some ridiculous reason our new 744s G-VWOW and G-VROC have no fridges in the galleys!!! These have been replaced by cool drawers that leak on take off and landing, great to have water in the cross aisles in an evac situation...not!
Aisles are fine in Y but are very wide in W and J. The upper class suite a/c have the widest aisle I have ever seen upstairs, it must be 5 feet wide.
based a/c have an office for me...hurrah!
A343 My favourite. Small a/c (by our standards) with great galley at the back with all Y crew working together from it, this makes for a good team spirit. Wide aisles in Y make passing carts easy.
In J we have two galleys, at doors 1 and 2 so plenty of room. You do miss the width of the 744 though.
A346 Veeeery long! My walkaround before take off (to check cabin secure, doors armed and crew seated) before giving "cabin Secure" takes an age! Again well designed with plenty of galleys. One really good thing is the extra IFE control screen down in Y class. You dont have to trek up to the front to reset seats etc. From my point of view I have a great workstation with a huge touchscreen control for all cabin functions. Looks impressive and very modern, I frequently catch pax having a look at it! Best thing about the -600 though are the lovely red leather cabin jumpseats!
As an aside, would love to work the 777....maybe one day? Not really looking forward to A380s arriving in two years. I am sure they will be marvellous and very pretty but to control two full decks of pax and crew will need some doing. We are talking about a cabin crew complement of 27-29....scary!
