>>>I just wanted to say that while i am not a "big" fan of southwest and whilethere are others who hate that airline for various reasons (killing off USAirways, etc.) you have to remember that Southwest is an ALL
BOEING fleet...i like boeing and am not too crazy about southwest. BUT i have to give southwest the credit for staying with Boeing it's entire life
If that's a compliment to SWA, it sounds like the old "you sweat less than any fat girl I know" kind of compliment...
As far as SWA "killing off USAirways" as being a valid reason for your ire, I think that's a little too simplistic. Yes, SWA is starting PHL
, but after the various errors multiple USAirways managements have made over the last 10-15 years, just about -any- airline from Aeroflot to Zimbawe Air could be starting PHL
service and have the same effect on USAirways.
SWA didn't make USAirways buy PSA and later abandon California, or buy Piedmont, or hire Stephen Wolf, or myriad of other things that have served to weaken USAirways over the years. While SWA's starting PHL
may be the proverbial "straw" that may prove to be the one that breaks their back (and I hope it doesn't), it's both inaccurate and disingenuous to "pin" the whole thing on SWA. It's business.
About 3 weeks before he bailed/was booted, Dave Siegel told everyone something to the effect that "SWA is coming (to PHL
) to kill us" and that kind of statement futher exacerbates the mistaken belief that it's somehow all SWA's fault. It's understandable why Siegel made that statement, I mean, he had to say -something- to fire up his troops and otherwise motivate them, but it wasn't quite the truth. What he said, on an emotional basis, sounded alot better than a perhaps more accurate (but less PC
) "Our management's history of screwing the pooch has left us in a bad situation where anyone and everyone can knock us off."
Anyways, hate us if you want to....
Glad you like the Boeings--we'll try and stay away from the EMB-190s...
