No its 1-stop service via San Francisco. With SAN-SFO being flown with 737's, and SFO-LHR being flown by 777's.

I don't consider a flight to be a true one-stop unless the aircraft is the same. It really isn't fair to market a flight to people with one flight number unless they don't have to leave the aircraft.

CO does this with their EWR-OGG flight - it changes to a 764 in IAH, and the EWR flight often arrives at the other side of the airport from the OGG departure gate, yet it is all flight 49.

Cory6188, I totally agree. I think that is stupid that airlines do that. I mean, I understand why, and I understand that it isn't stupid for them but...it always kinda ticks me off

Filip549,

The system almost never gives you the stops if it is the same flight number, unless you ask for it.
This flight does have a stop and a plane change and the passengers will have to go through customs as well........

Filip549,

They call it a 'direct' flight , not a non-stop...... You will only have 1 coupon in your ticket for LHR-SAN, but you'll still have to change planes and go through customs......... It's all marketing..........  Laugh out loud

hehe well,if I buy this ticket,I want to be sure that I end up in san diego and not Washington or anywhere else..I mean with this ticket I first have to go to London then to Washington and finally to San Diego?,,that sucks..
Instead I can buy a SAS ticket from Arlanda directly to. For example Chicago and then change plane to SD,,that is only one stop..I don't think it is necessary to stop two times...

Filip549,

True, you can do it in one stop, although I prefer UA trans-atlantic if you fly Business or First... I've always had super service and very friendly staff.
2 stops give you the possibility to visit another airport, smoke, or just stretch the legs......

True, that one side of it. I.m 16 years old and will be flying alone this time.
I also enjoy visiting new airports, but still try to only make one stop.
Thanks for your opinion.

Filip549,
Yes this is indeed VERY annoying. I was on China Eastern headed for Shanghai, and I live in San Francisco. On the ticket it said that we would have one stop in Los Angeles. The SFO-LAX portion of the flight was operated by American Airlines, and then we had to transfer to MU. There were about 40 of us in our group (San Francisco Ballet). We were all relieved that all we had was a direct flight from LAX-Shanghai, but we were all wrong. I was taking a stroll through the airport, when all of a sudden I noticed that the flight departures stated that MU was going to Beijing!!!! I rushed back to the ticket counter and asked them what was wrong they explained that the flight was doing a stop in Beijing before continuing to Shanghai, boy was that a bummer. So we had to get out of the aircraft and clear customs in Beijing.
Same thing happened on SU flights from SFO-SVO, with the stop in Seattle. But that flight has the same flight number. On the way to Russia you are allowed to walk around the airport, unlike on the way to SFO you have to clear customs.

WidgetBoi ,

Believe me: the connection time is valid for connection, otherwise they wouldn't offer this flight .........

WidgetBoi:

Also, the one redeeming factor about these change-of-plane "direct" flights is that the connecting plane almost always has to wait for the inbound. So you won't miss the connection.

I just wish SOMEBODY would fly this route, although I'm partial to British Airways. What an event it was to see these MASSIVE beauties skimming the rooftops of downtown San Diego - everyone everywhere would stop and watch in amazement:

Yes it was a very cool and great route and I wish someone would start flying it again. I once flew the BA 777 to San Diego it was very convenient.

BA currently flies the SAN route from either LHR or LGW but Im not sure which airport. I saw a BA 777 in SAN a few months back so BA does service to SAN.

BA no longer operate this route.

If you book the sector on www.ba.com it offers a non-stop to DFW then connecting to an AA flight with a BA codeshare flight number.
