It's Official: Ted's First Time Was Great

Sun Apr 25, 2004 7:01 am

Finally an official statement from an internal newsletter
--------------------------------------------------------
TED OFF TO A STRONG START

We're quickly becoming a new, more competitive kind of company - and you don't need to look any further than Ted for evidence. Not only was Ted profitable in its first full month of service, it's also quickly winning back market share for United, primarily at the expense of Frontier and America West. In Denver, for example, United's market share rose from 40% to 43% in March, compared to the same period a year earlier. On the West Coast, we went from 39% to 45%. On-time results have been strong, with very few cancellations. And Ted planes - with their increased seating capacity - have consistently been flying with load factors in the very high 80s.

Thank god they kept Econ+... other than that it's just UA without first class, so I'd expect them to be a tad more profitable in those low revenue markets.

Well... I wouldn't really call United objective when it comes to TED but if its true, good for them.

Good to hear! Im flying on Ted this upcoming Christmas 2004 and I cant wait! I paid $128.40 for my ticket when I purchased it last month (March 2004). I hope that the service is going to be alot better than Im thinking it will be. Can't wait!  Big thumbs up
