First Airline To Operate EMB-170

Tue Apr 27, 2004 8:32 am

Hey guys I have a quick question:

Who exactly was the first airline to operate the relatively new EMB-170? I just got my US Airways Dividend Miles E-Statement and according to them:

"LOOK FOR THE NEW EMBRAER-170 AIRCRAFT
US Airways will be rolling out the new 72-seat Embraer-170 regional jet
to an airport near you. US Airways is the first airline to introduce
this new aircraft. The Embraer-170 features leather seats, stand-up
headroom and large overhead bins. Also, when boarding the aircraft, there
will be Preferred boarding and seating. For more information, visit
http://www.usairways.com/about/press/nw_04_0402.htm "

I dont know if this post breaks the copyright rule because I got it in an email, but note how they say:

US Airways is the first airline to introduce...

Didn't LOT Polish operate them first? Correct me please if I am wrong. Thank you.

Actually, that is a bit of a misnomer, as USAirways Express was the first to operate the type IN THE USA

The first operator was LOT, followed by USAir Express.

Just a small note, US Airways is operating these planes, not US Airways Express, not MidAtlantic Airways, and certainly not USAir Express. I realize that they're wearing US Airways Express titles, but they're on the US Airways certificate. Indeed, next to the door, there's a small decal reading "MidAtlantic Airways, operated by US Airways".
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.
