Opinions On Buenos Aires

Mon Feb 07, 2000 3:43 am

Since this seems to be an interesting topic, I was wondering what your opinions are on the situation with the airports in Buenos Aires. What is your rating on Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport(AEP), & Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), are they nice airports, or not so nice?
Also, what about the debate on Aeroparque, do YOU think it should be moved to Ezeiza? If you check Aeropuertos2000 website, you see that they, in theory at least, are commited to Aeroparque, & some in the city government have also shown support for its continuation.
What do you believe will really happen?
Thanks for your opinions.

Be lucky,

BTW, have you checked this out?:

I think aeroparque is really a third world airport if we are talking about the architecture infraestructure, the best think to remarc is the close to the city, that is really convenience for business travelers. From one to ten, i gave it five.EZE it is not marvellous but it is not so terrible, baggage claim is a disaster, and the parking lot, both two point, the rest six point. It should be separated or rebuilt a complitly new airport terminal in EZE.

Ezeiza is one of the worst airports I have ever been to. I think they should build a new very big terminal at Ezeiza and close Aeroparque to facilitate connections from outside Argentina to domestic flights. The777Man
Boeing 777s flown: UA, TG, KE, BA, CX, NH, JD, JL, CZ, SQ, EK, NG, CO, AF, SV, KU, DL, AA, MH, OZ, CA, MS, SU, LY, RG, PE, AZ, KL, VN, PK, EY, NZ, AM, BR, AC, DT, UU, OS, AI, 9W, KQ, QR, VA, JJ, ET, TK, PR, BG, T5, CI, MU and LX.. Further to fly.. LH 777

Both airports need a lot of work but I really don't think AEP should close at all. EZE would be even worse. As The777Man EZE should facilitate connections to domestic flights...that could be done without closing AEP...which I think would be a big mistake.

I agree, both airports need a lot of renewal, they are too crowded & confusing. But closing the domestic airport is suicide, eventually, EZE will become so crowded that they will need another airport anyways, then what? I advise my Argentinian friends against such a move.
EZE already has flights to some cities in the country, I think I did see a few when I went there. I think that is the way to go, to have national flights to MAJOR cities in Argentina from EZE, & to smaller cities in the domestic one.
I hope the constructions at both airports can improve them. Generally speaking, airports in Latin America need a LOT of work, specially the secondary airports, like Lima, wow! When I went their on my Latin tour, that was really an OLD airport. So the airports in Buenos Aires, generally speaking, are no better or worse than other airports in the region.

Of course, I quickly forgot about the airports & their problems when I went to Argentina with my college friends, we went to a shopping mall, sat down with a delicious ice-cream (like they recomended me to do in the USA), & just look around & people-watch, specially those shopping mall girls...

The Most Thought Out Project In History...

Tue Feb 08, 2000 4:44 am

Hello, AVIA_Arg:

Let me just sat this about the article:

For HOW LONG have we been thinking about what to do with Aeroparque? 5, 10, 20 YEARS? It is really embarrassing that they, as a city, still don't know after all this time what to do with this airport. See, here is my problem with moving the AEP to EZE. The day will come when EZE becomes saturated, & then we are going to have to talk about a second airport ALL OVER AGAIN. If they want to make the connections between the provinces & international destinations easier, then start services from EZE to Cordoba, Rosario, Mendoza, Tucuman, Salta, Ushuaia, etc., not bring ALL the flights to EZE. Building the island-airport is also ridiculous, it is too expensive & grand. They should expand AEP where it is, & that's it. IF PEOPLE AROUND AEP DON'T LIKE THE NOISE, then they can LEAVE. The neighbors want peace & quiet, THEN LEAVE BUENOS AIRES!!!!, & go to, I don't know, La Quiaca or Santa Cruz. I'm sure they will find a lot of quiet there, but don't complain about noise in a city of 13 million people! A city is a city, & Aeroparque should stay where it is.

One thing though, what does KDT mean??

Thanks for the article, AVIA_Arg.

Love & be happy,

Aeroparque won´t be moved. There is some construction going on at the terminal at the moment, just above the arrivals area of Aerolineas. The company published an ad showing investments in the airport for the next 12 months. Under current Ezeiza infrastructure, moving there is not a good idea. When the Lapa aircraft crashed last August Aeroparque was closed and the domestic traffic caused a true chaos in EZE.

The noise problem will be solved as newer generation jets fly at AEP. The Lapa B737-700 and Southern Winds are remarkably quieter than the noisy B737-200 and DC9-30´s.
