Swiss - How's The New CEO Gonna Do?

Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:54 am

Hello Fans of Swiss Aviation!

It has now been a week or so since the new boss of SWISS was hired. Is the turnaround complete? Is it better now that ex-Crossair Mr. Dose is gone?  Nuts

Just kidding!!!

Seriously, how does everyone think the new CEO will do? I believe he has close connections to Lufthansa and this is likely to make the OneWorld alliance question a bit tricky.

I hope he is successful and can bring a turnaround to the company. SWISS badly needs a leader who can unite the people of the former LX and former SR and someone who can improve morale! When I left in October morale was terrible and I would like to see it improve!

Any ideas one how the new guy is going to be? Are there generally good feelings about him?

I wish him good luck!

"I believe he has close connections to Lufthansa and this is likely to make the OneWorld alliance question a bit tricky."

There is no question about OneWorld! It bothers me that everyone is speaking about SWISS not joining OneWorld because they have worked out and agreed on valid contracts. They cannot just say "ah we changed our mind now".

RJ100,

Yes, they have a contract with OneWorld, but it is not going as smoothly as expected apparently. One of the big hangups seems to be the integration of the SWISS frequent flier program into the BA program.

I am not saying that they will automatically go to Star Alliance, but that is not be be discounted.

The main thing I hope for is success for SWISS, whatever happens.

Something many fail to realise is that a CEO cannot perform miracles. It is a little like the Swissair days, jumping from one ‘hero’ to the next (Suter, Corti) and believing that everything will change thanks to that one man. What about everyone else?

@Saab2000: I wish Swiss luck trying to get out of that OW contract. Penalties, big ones.
