Longest Service Of Any Passenger Aircraft?

Mon Feb 07, 2000 6:36 am

What's the longest that any a/c has served as passenger a/c,before being converted to freighters or retired.

Also, what's the oldest passenger a/c(s) still in service?

If you mean revenue passenger service (airline), I wouldn't be suprised if it is a DC-3.

I would have to agree... Built in the 1940's they are still flying today some approaching 60 years old

There are over 550 DC-3 still registered in the US alone.

I would guess that the most hours/cycles on any aircraft currently flying has to be held by one of the following:

747-100
727
DC-9

On a lighter side, whatever it is, I'll bet that it's operated by NWA, LOL.

Longest in terms of years is a DC-3. I think I have a video clip of it, but will have to check when I get home. It had flown something like 93 000 hours if memory serves me correctly. In terms of hours, some 747's have superseded this and have surpassed the 100 000 hour mark.
