Jetblue And SAV

Sun May 02, 2004 5:10 am

I keep hearing more and more rumors about this. In my opinion, SAV is one of the most underserved airports in the southeast. I first heard about a possible Jetblue route to SAV a few months ago somewhere in this very forum. I heard a little more here and there and today I even heard TSA talking about it. Does anyone have any information about this? I know it's all rumors but what are the chances of Jetblue entering the SAV market?

I really don't know. Do you seriously think that SAV could have any potential? Is there a lot of demand for New York out of there?

SAV most definitely has potential for at least one daily non-stop to New York City, whether it be on an A320, or an E190. Don't forget that SAV also serves the Hilton Head, SC area, where many many people vacation year round (off peak from October to March, usually). There is definitely enough to warrant service. It's an underserved airport with untapped potential, I think. This could stimulate air travel in the region, and jetBlue could make a killing in Savanah/ Hilton Head.

Is CO currently the only carrier with service between NYC (via EWR) and SAV?

Being one of the more undeveloped costal regions the potential for growth out of the coastal Georgia especially to the Savannah Region would warrant expansion and service startups such as the aforementioned. There is much potential and I'm sure the investors from NY would have a field day down there. It is truly a beautiful place from what I hear. besides it might be a smart decision for B6, even if they wait for the 190s. there is a ton of connection potential from upstate NY cities, as Hilton Head is a large vacation destination.

With the upcoming G-8 summit at Sea Island, GA, SAV and BQK will see a temporary increase in flights. You will also see a number of foreign charters into SAV as well.
