It seems a little strange that they repainted JA8582 into the new livery in December if they were planning on retiring her.
JA8582 was painted into the new colors because first of all, the aircraft went through a D check, which I'm assuming would require the aircraft to be painted into the company's current livery.
The other reason why it was painted into the current livery was because once JL

too) which is why you see JL
A300s in the current JL
/JD a.k.a. "Arc of the Sun" livery. It would have been wrong if JL
kept the crane livery, especially since the aircraft went through a D check, since JL
kind of "took over" JD
Don't forget, the Arc of the Sun livery was created because of the merger between JL
