NW27 Aborted Take Off At SFO Today - Any Info?

Mon May 03, 2004 9:22 am

Just came home from spotting and taking photos at SFO. Around 2:40 pm NW 27 (DC-10 reg N238NW) was cleared to take off on 28R. I saw the plane accelerating but then it slowed down and just cruised to the end of the runway. Nothing spectacular.

I only heard the pilots said they aborted the take off but no further details. Just wondering if anyone else can fill in the details.

Thanks.

Its was mx....the plane returned to gate A-12 and will depart tommorow at 9:00am.

On a side note, is there a date for the first A332 to get delivered. This hunk of crap never leaves!

As739x, thanks for the quick info. Do you know what kind of problem they had?

Just curious what kind of compensation (if any) do airlines provide to the inconvenienced passengers in a situation like this?

I have not heard what it was yet. I'm sure the airline as to put them up in a hotel. It was a aircraft problem. Most airlines have contracts with hotels in case this happens. They also may have sent them on other carriers, though no scheduled flights to Narita leave SFO after 1:35p.
