Aeroflot Tu 204 From SVO To ULN!?

Mon May 03, 2004 4:57 pm

As per the CRS, SU has a twice weekly ops from SVO to ULN (Ulan Baator/Mongolia) operated with a T20 plane.

Since when does Aeroflot operate the Tu 204 and how many of them are in their fleet?

Strange... According to their homepage they don't have any Tu 204 in their fleet. But they probably have some somewhere parked in Russia.

The plane (Tu214, not Tu204, though it is not a big difference) belongs to GTK "Russia".

I think it's another airline operating the service for them. I forgot which one it was.

Funny, IATA doesn't have a code in the CRS for the Tu214. When you chk for T20 it says Tupolev 204. Maybe they should update a new code for the Tu 214 which is operating for SU.

Does it mean that -with this new equipment- the fuel stop at Novosibirsk/Bratsk is no longer required?

What does MIAT fly to SVO? Still the A313?

Thanks,

SU are also operating the Tu214 nonstop on SVO-BOM.

I spotted the plane at BOM airport on Friday morning - looked pretty sleek!

I think the 313 they use as stop on the route to TXL and if not mistaken, the 738 is also used to SVO.

Sean, was the plane in the new SU colors?

Sean, was the plane in the new SU colors?

It was quite dark as I saw it taxiing out so I didn't get a very good side-on look, but it appeared to be in a primarily gray scheme with smaller titles. I only recognized it because of the long narrow airframe with winglets - unlike anything else we get in BOM at that hour!

The TU-214 is just an extended range version of the TU-204. It was originally (and still) known as the TU-204-200.

From the exterior, it looks no different from a TU-204. The TU-214 is really the same aircraft, except with an extra fuel tank, uprated PS-90А turbofans for a higher MTOW and to compensate for the higher MTOW, its struts were strengthened.

So there is no need for a separate IATA code for it. T20 is just fine.

Maybe SU brought their TU-204s out of storage and have re-entered them into scheduled service.

Planenutz,

These aircraft are only in Aeroflot colours because they were painted when (or very soon after) all civil aircraft in Russia/USSR were 'Aeroflot'. They probably haven't flown since then either.

I am 99.9% sure they do not belong to SU, but Aviastar/Tupolev.

The Tu-214's we are talking about here are all newly built.

T20 in reservation systems refers to the Tu-204 'series' so covers the Tu-214 too.

Thanks for the justifications regarding the T20. I think they might do the same as with the 330 (332, 333) as example. But now I know, T20 is for the Tu204 and Tu214.

Aeroflot TU-214's are operated by GTK Rossiya (the gov't airline) on Aeroflot's behalf. They are on the SU online and print timetables and are mentioned in a press release somewhere. I have a friend who just got back from Sochi (on the Black Sea) and said they were quite nice. They are operated to several destinations, with ULN and Sochi being the ones I know off of the top of my head...
