What about EK?? How can they do it???
I never really have a good impression on them. I mean they only have the 345 which is good. all the other products = substandard!

The strange thing is that two airlines, that regularly win awards for their service and comfort levels are also two airlines that have 777s with 3-4-3 config: Emirates is one of them, Lauda is the other.
I've never flown on either of them, so I can't judge it - but I've heard from customers that have flown on them, and none of them complained about the seating - most actually said that it was quite comfortable.
I think because you are used to the A330-340 cabin. The width of the 777 is wider by a considerable margin to allow the extra seat so it does not feel cramped with the airy feeling of the cabin and in reality.
EK's 777s are quite cramped in Y class. I flew the LHR-DXB-LHR a couple of times on the 773. Their 332s are little more spacious which is a relief. Overall if given a choice I would try to be on their 332s.
I totally agree. I flew EK 332 from LGW to DXB and it was quite pleasant. The 773 and 772 on EK are so cramped in Y class. Having flown CO 772 on a 3-3-3 seating from EWR to LGW, my flight on EK 777s only made me feel worse. If I have a choice, I would never fly the EK 777. And I live in New York, and know the meaning of being in a can of sardines
I don't think Emirates is uncomfortable in Y on the 777. I agree it seems as though it should be very cramped, but they win awards. Finnair are 3-4-3 on the MD11, same deal. Very highly regarded airline and the first choice for all Russians travelling from Moscow and St Petersburg to NYC. Do you really think Finnair could fill an MD11 just with O&D to Helsinki, every day? Those flights are full, every day of the year, thanks to the big bear on Finland's eastern border.
