Well it's more expensive during the summer. From a tourist point of view I think it's best in june since most european countries don't have vacation then. And it's not too hot.

you are approaching the bad times to fly to Europe, I've always travelled right before Christmas or late winter, airfares are high right now and that's considered a 'sale' by most airlines. Best time to travel is March/April and if you don't mind some really cold weather, try early to mid december. Don't travel during the summer, it's the peak season
I'm not always right but that's no reason to insult me

I second MY7E7 to the tee. Just would like to add that I flew to LHR in November for 299 after taxes and fees from EWR. In March/April you can sometimes find fares for like 200 after taxes from New York to Europe.

Price-wise, it's mid January to end March. I have no clue about the other airlines, but with NW/KL East Coast - EU can be had for about $350 to $370 (including all fees and taxes).

If going in March/April, avoid Easter (1 week before until 1 week after). Not necessarily price-wise (although hotels in the UK are often higher) but just to avoid the huge throngs of people everywhere. A lot of school trips happen during those 2 weeks.

I'd say you're a little late to try and find something inexpensive from now through August. I like to go in September...crowds are down a bit, weather is usually cool if not warm, and prices for tix are usually down.
