Good news for Cedar Rapids, its surrounding communities, and Allegiant Air. Allegiant seems to have gone through plenty of expansion lately. I wonder what's next for them.

Hopefully some new planes! Nothng against the MD-87 but they better do something with their fleet. With IFP getting bigger they could benefit from some 738s or something like SCY and fly to other markets.

How about some 717s as well? Do they have the range to do IFP to CID & other markets that Allegiant seem to be craving a niche for? IF Bethune comes aboard, I betcha he'll get a handful of 717s to replace the -87s. Regards.

Hey Tom!

I am missing the desert in a big way! I can't wait to get myself back there, and remember drinks on me! Choose your casino!

Allegiant should upgrade their fleet, IFP is going to need more flights soon!

Nick, the heat is definately here...105 today, and very dry too. The good wet stuff can be at the Nugget or the Pioneer, at least IMO. Plenty to choose from. Allegiant will need some fleet replacement soon. So I'm betting money on more newer MD-80s. Sure wish they consider the 717 tho. Regards.

You know Tom Granny's is some restuarant! We can have a couple of beers and a great steak there! On me! Or the Bar at the Nugget or Ramada is nice too.

Yes I believe Gordon Bethune will take the helm of Allegiant and turn them into a huge airline! Can you imagine getting on a nice new Allegiant 739 at IFP?! Then seeing Gordo coming on the TV and saying "Thank you for flying Allegiant and enjoy your flight, you are flying one of the newest modern planes" I would lose it!

Tom, we have had more rain here than I can handle! I tell you in 5 years I will probably be a full time resident of Laughlin!

Regards!

If G4 keeps this up, they'll have to take over more gates at the D concourse. They need more than just D4 and D6.

I'm still waiting for a west coast city.

It's amazing how sucessful an airline can be just serving all the pud towns around the country. Makes for an interesting analysis.

Has anyone here flown on N861GA since they started flying the airplane??? I should have taken a picture, but the forward lavatory has a window. That's the first jet aircraft I know of that has a window in the lav.

Do other SAS MD-80's have windows in the forward lav?

Just curious.

BTW, congrats on the CID service. I'm sure this makes BTR quite angry.

Kudos to Allegiant for exploiting these obviously profitable smaller markets.

i doubt that allegiant would ever look at the 737-900, since alaska is having problems with the range and payload capabilities of the -900, why do you thing the last two orders were just recently converted to -800 versions.

I don't think you'll find Allegiant buying 717's. They don't have the range of the MD-80's or MD-87's. It's more likely that they'll buy 737's or A3XX's than 717's.

G4 would probably buy from the used market before they buy any new airframes. Also, they have a lot of investors who are awaiting repayment or dividends.. so I don't anticipate G4 getting a new airframe for a while..

It took Spirit only 20 some years to start getting out of the MD 80 model..

Here's a little more media coverage from CID. They talk about the new service allowing CID to keep up with Quad Cities and its new AirTran service to LAS.

The article also quotes the head of Quad Cities airport who says they didn't expect G4 to be interested in CID. In fact, MLI negotiated with Allegiant then withdrew an offer once AirTran expressed an interest.

Who are you thinking of? As far as I know, the only 2 shareholders are Maurice Gallagher and Mitch Allee.
