If UA Goes Out...

Tue May 04, 2004 7:41 pm

If United Airlines fails at getting out of the water, then will happen to their slots at LHR and NRT? To what airlines will they be given to (if any)? Are they even reserved for "American carriers" only?

They will belong to the court, who will liquidate on behalf of the creditors for the highest price---within the guidelines of the bilateral.

slots may go to any airline that wishes to buy them. Operating rights can go to only to US airlines.

I would guess CO would bid VERY high for LHR and get them. It would be a bidding war between NW, CO, and DL.

Back to reality...
And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

I don't think thats true because earlier in 2002/2003 United sold two of it's slots to British Airways and DL,CO,& NW were very mad that they didn't get a chance to buy them.....

Just My 2 Cents

If UA goes out, airlines in the U.S. will be more profitable. That simple. Yet I hope U.S. Airways goes out and not United...United has just done too much for the world to be simply forgotten when and if it goes out. Hopefully they have seen their worst days, and maybe will begin to regain financial health. AA and United must live!!!!  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up
