airmale, why doesn't PIA go in for the CRJ 100/200/700 or the Embraer 170/ERJ 145 ? They could then have an all jet fleet and save fuel costs on shorter routes.

Any particular reason why they want turboprops only?
Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Saab 2000 is much more fuel efficient on shorter routes than the ERJ/CRJ...

Nice to see more airlines becoming interested in Saab 2000s (a great aircraft for short routes!), but is the Saab 2000 the right aircraft for the runways of some airports in the region?

Reason?

Turboprops are used mainly on social/rural routes and are suited for operations on unpaved strips, they're also able to offer cheaper fares due to the type, I may be wrong but its my conclusion, the RJ's would be more suited to small cities where they could replace teh 737 and upgrade prop services.

DIJKKIJK, aren't turboprops generally more efficient than jets on shorter routes? A lot of airlines that have replaced props with jets have, as far as I know, done so, because passengers usually prefer jets - but in economic terms, I always thought props are better.
