Which Airline Operates The Most Daily Services?

Thu May 06, 2004 4:51 pm

I'm interested to know the largest number of flights per day between any two cities... SAME AIRLINE and NOT including codeshare flights.

The best I could come up with is SYD-MEL. QF operate 32 daily services on this route!!

(These are all QF operated flights on QF aircraft).

BUT, I'm convinced that other larger airlines should be able to top this...

Any advances on 32???

Given that SYD-MEL is third busiest city pair in the world in terms of passengers, it would be pretty hard to have too many above this. This route in the year ending June 2003 took 5.353 million passengers on 32,495 trips.

The Qantas on a weekday varies between 31 to 34 return trips per day with three more to add when JQ starts those SYD-AVV ops on 1st June.

DJ usually maintains its schedule of 24 return trips per day.

I have a new winner: Iberia, which has 44 daily flights between Madrid and Barcelona.

Second place goes to Alitalia, which has 41 dailies (if I counted right) between Milan and Rome.

At least as good as QF and WN are:
- Air France also has 34 daily flights between Paris and Toulouse.
- Varig has 33 flights daily between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

I checked a couple of other routes, and was surprised to see that there are significantly less flights:
- American has 30 flights daily between Chicago and New York
- ANA on Tokyo-Sapporo: 23 flights
- ANA on Tokyo-Osaka: 22 flights
- Air Canada on Montreal-Toronto: 22 flights

SAA has 19 daily flights between JNB and CPT , SA express has 1.

Including competitors there are about 52 daily departures between this city pair.

MAD BCN uses 752,320,321,m87 and they plan to use a 340 during summer.

The way the Puente Aereo works is actually very good, there are no reservations,is like a first come first serve, I have been at the check in desk at 07:00 in MAD and boarded the plane at 07:15. Works very well and allows great flexibility for day travel to BCN.
These are my principles but if you don't like them I have others
