Continental 767 Scheduled For IAH-MSY

Sat May 08, 2004 1:32 am

It doesn't show up in the reservation system until November 1st...so anything can change between now and then obviously...but CO223 LAX-IAH-MSY is showing "767" equipment on both segments...whether it's a -200 or a -400 I have no idea...but it's in there. The finalized schedules for November probably won't be published until early September, but this could very well happen...if you recall, CO used to fly daily A300 flights (alternating between one and two per day) between the two cities in the early 90's. IAH-MSY is not only a big leisure market but it's also a big business market, with decent yields. We shall see if this comes to pass, but it sure would be nice to have another airline offering scheduled wide body service into here. Just a heads up for anyone interested.

Remember when National and Delta used to have several Dc-10's and Tristars a day into MSY??
Finally made it to an airline mecca!

where are you seeing this info? If it is true and it says 767 then it is the pacific version of the 767. It would be highly unlikely that it would be a 762, a 739 can fit more.

The info is in the reservation system...the same one that CO uses.

Ah yes National D10's and Delta L10's. Those were the days!

well now that you say LAX, it will not be a 767. It is a 767 on teh LAX-IAH segment and then aircraft change to a 757 from IAH-MSY.

I actually can't find it anywhere either, including CO.com, but regardless...if it does end up happening, that'd be great.

We usually see a seasonal shift here in Houston between widebodies and 753s, of which MSY sees a few a day. The winter season generally brings 767s back to routes like CO / KMCO), USA - Florida">MCO, LAX, and occasionally, SFO. Generally, CO223 would become CO786 and carry on to CO / KMCO), USA - Florida">MCO (which schedules do show still), but if the MSY news is true, it would now go to New Orleans instead with the same flight number.

It would indeed be a 767-400 in the Pacific configuration, which makes sense given MSY's yield and volume. We could definitely use the seats! It's nice to see IAH-MSY back at a dozen a day after being at 9X for a while. I remember not to long ago when it was flown 13-14X a day (although no 757s...).

Sure but Delta fly several 767s a day to MSY. Delta seem to be a real widebody airline, with stacks of 767 service all over the country. Continental are more conservative, so when they fly a single 767 to New Orleans, people are jumping up and down with joy. Hmmm.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

It could be a glitch in this system, but it definetely shows "767" as of 11/1...it shows the flight as a 752 on 10/31, on both the LAX-IAH and IAH-MSY segments. We'll just have to see how it turns out.  Smile

I wish they would fly those planes to MSY! I just booked a trip to MSY on CO and had a hell of a time doing it!

We ended up on the following flights:

6/11 EWR-IAH-MSY 764/752
6/13 MSY-IAH-EWR 753/733

There were 8 scheduled IAH-MSY-IAH flights, and every one was just about sold out!

Steve I hope you're right and they bring in the big guy for November.

Saw several DL widebody's last week. One was on a ATC hold and parked in the new holding apron for Rwy 19. Of course I was right there in my favorite spot watching those big engines purr. Sweet!

Looks like the classic SHARES system is back again with unreliable information. Thanks for clearing that up SJU767. At least they've been flying a good amount of 753 action into here.

This would be awesome. Since DL and CO share the same concourse at MSY it will be neat to see DL 762's and 763's along with CO's 762 or 764. I don't see why this could not work. We fill the 753's they (CO) brings over during the summer. Will be very interesting.
