Most Common Airplane At Your Airport?

Sat May 08, 2004 2:29 am

While driving down the concourses at MSP today, I just noticed how many CRJs are here. If I am not mistaken, these are the most popular planes at MSP (operated by the most carriers, not highest number, as that would be NW with anything).

CRJs - UA, F9, 9E, AC, DL, and soon to start, HP
A320 series - NW, HP, UA, US, F9
737 series - DL, CO, SY, UA, US
DC9 - NW (I just had to have it in here)  Big grin

What is it like at your airport?

I would have to say the 737 dominates SAN, mainly from SWA but also some form AA and Alaska.

Here at LHR its the A320, althought the most popular wide is probably the 744 which is good to see.

over at LTN the 737 is the most popular i'd say.

At AEX We see CRJ200s operated by ASA the most often and ERJ135/145s operated by ConEX a close 2nd.

At Albany, NY It is an almost even split between 737s & various Regional Jets.

A few 320's 319s and MD-80 sprinkled in.

At PHL, for mainline jets:

it's a toss-up between

737s (CO, US, UA, DL, TZ, occasional AA, and soon WN)

and

A319/320 (US (including the A321), UA, HP, and NW)

For RJs, again a toss-up between

EMB-135/145 (American Eagle/Connection, CO Express, & US Express)

and

CRJs (DL Connection (Comair), and US Express)

For turboprops:

Dash 8s (US Express)

I would have to say South West. About 70% of the traffic at SJC are South West's 737s.

That's a difficult question for Frankfurt:

I guess it would be either the 737-series, the A320-series or the 747's. If you count 747-freighters as 747't I think it would be them..

Operators are: (If I can remember all of them)

Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, Singapore, Air China, Asiana, Korean Air, Korean Cargo, Cathay, Cathay Cargo, Thai, Qantas, Emirates Cargo, Kalitta, Polar Air, Malaysian Cargo, NipponCargoAirlines, JAL, JAL Cargo, China Airlines Cargo, ANA, Atlas Air, Global Supply Systems, UA (for troop charter and soon regularely), Air Canada, Iran Air (sometimes), Evergreen International, Air India (how could I nearly forget)...

WOW - THAT'S A LOT!!!

Can anybody complete my list?? I can count 27... If I can't count right  Big thumbs up

Next 5 in order:

King Air 200 (Voyageur) ~2 daily
PC-12 (Bearskin) 2 daily 1 on sunday
B1900D (Air Alliance) 2 weekdaily
Metro III/23 (Bearskin) 1 daily
Dash 7 (Voyageur and rarely Bombarider) .5 daily

Yup YYB is a really happenin place as you can see...

LGA: I'd have to guess that it's either the ERJ-145 or the CRJ...the MD-80 might give those a run for their money too, but I would bet it's one of the RJ's

With CMH, it has to be the ERJ-135s & -145s. 737s would be second.

Here at HMO I get the following different flights:

27 from Aerlitoral only with boring SAAB 340s

17 from AM, mostly MD-80s, D-9s, a few 737NGs and rarely a 752.

8 from Aerocalifornia, only D-9s

6 from Aviacsa, mostly 732s and rarely 722s

And sadly only 5 flights from MX; A319s, A320s, and only 1 752 flight.

I got this from a magazine, it's not up-to date, but I calculate around 80 different daily flights in here, enough to keep me entertained Big grin

Cheers.

Las Vegas is heavily populated with the 737, 757, MD80, and A319/320. It breaks the monotony when the occasional A330 charter visits, or the scheduled 747-400s from JAL and Virgin Atlantic, and the A340 from Philippines.

At EWR I would say probably the 737.
737 operators at EWR:
CO, UA, AA, DL, US, Hooters, and PrivateAir.

I would think the second most common would be the ERJ's.

Quick off the top estimation at PVD would be 737s because of WN (about 70 ops/day) But US, UA, and NW operate A319/A32X family-types. But US does also run a few 737s and COs 737, and the fact that UA changes plans like money changes hands (lots of equip subbing A319 for 733), the 737 just might win out.

By my count:
137x 737 (including WN) against only 112x A32X. The 733 has the most of any single variant, with 51.
81x CRJ against only 52x ERJ.
And 76x DH8 against only 10x D38.  Smile

At my other home airport, PIT, the winners are:
56x 737 against 47x A32X. 733 most popular variant with 37.
93x ERJ against 35x CRJ.
53x BE1 against 34x SF3.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

2. A310s eg. Kuwait Airways , Qatar Airways
3. B747s eg. Cargolux, United ( charter for Us milatry )
4. B777s eg. Kuwait Airways , British Airways

At JFK its probably the A320 because of jetBlue.
We get a lot of 744s and 763s also. A few 777s and A340s fly in too.

I know that at AEP there is practically NOTHING flying besides B732s from Pluna, Southern Winds, Aerolineas, and a few other carriers....

Well just to add to Roberta's post, the most frequent plane at LHR is the A319 from BA. There are (just a guess) over 150flights a day from BA using there 319s (or 320 family). Rob, hope you don't mind me adding this. However we do get a lot of heavies in the morning and we have a fairly high rate during the day however this is eliminated with the amount of A319s you see.

Here's Some Examples:
A319:

We both forgot to include future F9's A32X contribution to PHL's mix. That could close the 737-A32X gap somewhat. Big grin

It seems most of you didn't get my question. I said planes operated by the most carriers at any given airport, not which plane there are most of there. Like the CRJs at MSP, they are heavily outnumbered by NW DC9s and 319/320s, but they are operated by the most airlines. Some only come once a day, some come every now and then.

By my count:
137x 737 (including WN) against only 112x A32X.

A330323X,

We both forgot to include future F9's A32X contribution to PHL's mix. That could close the 737-A32X gap somewhat.

Actually, I included all 3 of them.  Big grin
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

I said planes operated by the most carriers at any given airport, not which plane there are most of there.

KaiGywer,

That being said, at PHL it would be the 737 (CO, US, UA, DL, TZ, occasional AA, and soon WN). Maybe FL could add a new 737 or two for some its PHL routes sometime in 2005.

At IAD, the plane operated by the most carriers would be the 767.

Here at ARN, it's SAAB 340's and F50 from Skyways and MD's and 737's from SK that dominate.
