Economy Seats Who Is The Best

Sun May 09, 2004 3:43 am

I know this might have been discussed before, but that was before I have been here. I was wondering who everyone thought had the best economy seats on domestic, and international flights. Also, what about Biz and First.

CO has some pretty nice BizFirst and Economy seats. Though they don't have the extra legroom like UA & AA does on their aircraft. But still comfortable though.

From my limited experience, I must say that on domestic flights, I was very surprised by the comfort and roominess on Westjet's 73G's. The seat pitch is between 33 and 34", plus they have headrests with extendable flaps. Definitely a very comfortable seat, especially when you consider they are a low cost airline.

For international, I'd have to give the nod to Air Canada, when I flew on the A330. Seat pitch also ranges from 33 to 34" which is very generous for a Y class service. They also have the same headrest design, and believe me, this makes a big difference.

As far as economy is concerned, in Europe, by far Alitalia aboard its MD80s. Also, TK and IB.
In Business, BA and SK lead in my opinion.

Well the seats on the SQ A345 seem to be exceptional.

MH has very decent seat pitch in all their aircrafts I think.
EK does too, though in their 777s they cram more seats in Y than other airlines (UA, for example), but make it up in the generous pitch.

Domestically it's Midwest Express... if you could even call it economy.

Otherwise if you check the surveys and annual reports, I think that AA gets the best ratings for their economy comfortability.

I would say BA's leather seats on their short-haul aircraft, plenty of legroom and really comfortable seats! I really missed the seats when I was on IB after.

I don't think AA has the best seats. The pitch is good, you can lift the head rest up so that shorter people don't have to deal with it but there is a big metal bar that hits you in the head and the tray table isn't big enough to hold my 12" powerbook which is tiny.........

Well you can't beat the MRTC on AA's 777, but the best seat I have been in is the new Air France Tempo seat.
Just wonderful.

MH's 744's are great as are BD's A330's. Loads of room on both and excellent service too.

At 6'4", I would definently have to say that AA 777 First is the most ILL-FITTING seat ive ever sat in. Most comfortable position was upright with the footrest down. Give me AA C class before first any day.

I though EK's seats were really good in economy.

Some of you may think I'm crazy, but I think the best (single) economy seat is on Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Coast Airlines - seat 9A (exit row) on the FRJ aircraft. That seat has almost as much legroom as Delta's Business Elite.

Best Economy Single Seat IMHO

B4, I'd actually say that 2A is even better. You get a proper seat belt and A TON of legroom.

Lan Chile's economy seats with IFE on 340s and some 767s are excellent: flexible head rest, foot rest, great IFE system, etc.

Although the seat pitch is the same 32'' than others, the IFE box on the floor and the leaning back of the seats take vital space from you, specially for long haults.

Hey guys,

this is a very intersting topic. Of all the planes I've flown on these had the best economy seats:

-Lufthansa 744s
-Virgin Atlantic A346
-Northwest A333

F Class: CX ( It has being voted the best in Skytrax) much better than UA and QF (CX only has 12 seats compared to 14 on other airlines on a 744)
J Class: VS and BA
Y Class (note counting premium Y Class): NZ?? ( I heard they offer full legrest and footrest)

AA's domestic F Class = a joke

UA F class on a 767 domestic was not bad

Obviously you must be short, because all of the airlines you have listed have one of the smallest leg room around
