DL 763 ER Seat Config Changes?

Tue May 11, 2004 6:00 am

Is Delta changing around there seat configs on the 763s? I am booked for a europe trip this summer on 763s and had exit rows all the way through. When I booked there were 2 exit rows: 20 and 21. Now when I look at my itenrary it shows me in row 20, which is now the only exit row. I called DL and they confirmed this. Is this the result of taking out the last 2 rows of Biz Elite?

I had the same thing happen to me, but I think they changed my aircraft from a B763 international config to a B763 domestic config. I am due to fly in august, and I had chosen seat 35A, but now I see that I have seat 15A! Flight is from LAX to ATL

Yes, Delta is removing the second BizE cabin from all 763ERs.

What's left will still constitute the largest 767 Business class of the USA fleet however  Big grin

This is curious as Delta's 763's all have 4 overwing exits (taken from seatguru). I too had the "good" seats (row 21 F/G) but lost them about 2 weeks ago (I have a flight from JFK to IST in 2 wks). I was assigned other seats and 21F/G were taken. I figured a Skymiles Platinum had simple called Delta and had me bumped from those seats. The second assumption was that once the seats are filled the seatchart on delta.com no longer displays the exit image. I have the non-reclining 20F/G now.

Contrary to what it says on seatguru.com and delta.com, Delta flies three types of 767-300ERs. The -332ERs have two over-the-wing exits, while the ex-GulfAir planes (-3P6ERs) and one leased plane (-324ER) only have one. I'm not sure of the exact configuration and can't tell you which is the emergency exit row, but it's possible that they switched from a -332ER to one of the other types.

I hope that helps  Big grin

WidgetBio: Thanks for the infos. I called Delta and confirmed. My 763 JFK-IST does only have 1 exit door over each wing. Further, they do recline. I'm quite pleased.

I guess the FAA reg for total pax evacuation in 90 seconds and thus 2 overwings on each side applies to a full econ seating setup. BusinessElite much reduce the seating enough to allow a single overwing to meet this requirement.

Rommel,

Happy to help!

And just to let you know, the aircraft with one overwing exit have a full-sized cabin door just ahead of the wing.

Actually, the majority of the 763ER fleet has two overwing exits (rows 20 and 21) as WidgetBoi mentioned. However, lately, they have been showing the seatmap of the ex-GF/OZ a/c (ships 1501 - 1506 and ship 1521) for all 763ER flights "to be safe". The ex-GF/OZ a/c only have 30 seats in BizElite (5 rows) as opposed to 36 seats on the reg. ERs and as they never really know which specific a/c will be operating a particular flight until the day before or the day of departure, they tend to block out row 6 in BizElite for pre-assignment. The Y seat map also shows the config for the GF/OZ planes (hence the one exit row). If you check the seatmap on the day of departure, it will show 2 exit rows again if it's a non-GF/OZ a/c. The GF and OZ a/c have rows 16 and 17 which do not exist on the regular ER while row 20 remains the one exit row.
