Swiss 737-800 At JFK Term 7?

Tue May 11, 2004 11:03 pm

Not exactly sure if it even was a Swiss plane or even what type of 737 it was but it had the winglets and was pulling into Term 7 yesterday. Thought maybe you guys from JFK or people that know JFK can help me out with this one. Just curious to know what airline it was exactly and if it was Swiss what is a 737 doing at JFK???

Thanks

Swiss does not have B737...

Swiss is one of the many Airbus-addicted airlines, so what you saw was probably a BBJ of the Geneva based Private Jet...

I think you saw a PrivatAir BBJ.

It was most likely the Privatair BBJ, it has a Swiss registration and a Swiss flag on the tail IIRC.

As far as I know it flies for Lufthansa in an all business class config, though could well have been on a private charter as they also use an A319CJ for the LH flights.

They operate all-business class flights for Lufthansa.

I suppose it could have been a diversion of the EWR flight, but we didn't have any bad weather in the area until late in the evening, so I'm guessing probably a charter of some sort. I don't know why they'd use T7, though.

It probably was an charter flight. PrivatAir operates a fleet of BBJs and one 757 in executive configuration. Beside that, they are flying for LH and operate an A319 (ACJ) shuttle for Airbus in Europe.

Great airline with great people! And of course, very nice planes!!

Or you can visit their website at http://www.privatair.com.

So, how much is a roundtrip from New York to Munich on Privatair? Can you book it through the Lufthansa website? Not that I am planning a trip of that magnitude anytime soon, but it would be nice to know. Just curious as to how these flights are booked.

You can through the LH website. I think MUC-EWR is LH412 (EWR-MUC LH413).

Nevermind, I answered my own question. I just checked EWR - MUC on the Lufthansa website, and it came up with the Privatair flight. It came up with a price of $4145.07 if I left next Tuesday, and returned the following Tuesday. For a business class ticket in that class of service, that is not overly terrible. Probably more than I will ever spend on a trip, but not bad.  Smile It also appears that UAL has a codeshare on the same flight.

I wonder if you could use Star Alliance miles to book that?

Caetravlr: I think you could use your miles on that flight. The BBJ flights are not different to any other LH flight. PrivatAir is just providing the aircraft under an ACMI-contract.

Caetrvlr, as Airways already pointed out, it should be no problem - actually, at least for LH Miles & More members there's also the possibility of buying an Economy Full Fare ticket and then upgrading to Business Class with miles (or at least they had that possibility last year, don't know if they still do).

Frank

Airways and Leskova, thanks for the info. Definitely something to save my miles for.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Does this a/c operate under a Lufthansa callsign, or PrivitAir?
