My First Flight (Alone) What Do You Think?

Wed May 12, 2004 6:28 am

Hey all!

I am only 15 at the moment and I am 16 in July.

because I will be 16, I would like to fly around alone! Without my parents for once, just to see what it is like on my own!

From the flight details below, what do you think? Do you think that I am doing a good route on my own? Do you think I will catch my connecting flights on time?

Could you suggest any other routes that would be good to try out on my own? Just for a day?

You comments would really be appreciated.

Details:

Thursday 1st July 2004

London Heathrow - Edinburgh
bmi British Midland (Airbus A320)
Departure Time: 06:50
Arrival Time: 08:10
Flight: BD050

Edinburgh - London Luton
Easyjet (Boeing 737)
Departure Time:09:25
Arrival Time: 10:45
Flight: EZY16

London Luton - Dublin
Ryanair (Boeing 737-200 - Hopefully!)
Departure Time: 13:30
Arrival Time: 14:35
Flight: FR335

Dublin - London Heathrow
bmi British Midland (Airbus A321)
Departure Time: 17:35
Arrival Time: 18:50
Flight: BD130

Thats it!

However, I am abit concerned about making the EZY flight to LTN because of the connecting time. What do you think?

Any comments?

Thankyou very much,

Cheers,

Jamie.

Jamie,
I think it's a great idea that you want to travel alone. Just be careful and don't leave the airport. If you have any problems you can always ask the cabin crew or the airport staff to help you out.

Good Luck.

Sounds neat. Will your parents visit you when you pass through Luton?

My first flight alone was at age 19: WN from BWI-SDF-STL

Thanks, for the comments!

Yeah I will be fine.

I flew to HAU with two mates my age a few weeks ago with FR and it was great.

Cheers,

Jamie.

I'd be cautious about posting exact flight information and dates on a public internet site with the advertisement you are alone. I'm sure you'd have nothing to fear from any member here, but you never know who is reading the site.

You'll make it, providing the BMI flight is on time, which it should be, just don't expect a decent boarding card number!  Big grin

Good luck, kid. Let me give you some advice. Make sure you are clean shaven. The girls like that.

I'm 17 now and my first flight alone was amazing. TWA JFK-STL STL-LAS where my father picked me up at LAS. I was 14 at the time and it was a blast. I felt so proud to be doing something by mysef. I remember one thing about the flight imparticular, the seats had metal footrests that folded down from the seat ahead of me, which nothing compared to electronic footrests was still pretty neat to me at 14, considering it was a domestic 757-200

I did LHR-MAN-LHR about a month ago, its a bit boring but its a decent plane trip to get you started. I've made a lot of trips alone since I was 13/14, you should be fine, also don't worry about the connection time its plenty. You are certainly doing a lot of flights for a first timer though. Have fun

When I was 17 I did YYZ-KIN-YYZ it was really fun to fly on my own, but I haven't flown alone since that.
