What Happened To Kenya Airways And The 767-400

Wed May 12, 2004 3:30 pm

While reading though the a.net fact sheet about the 767-400 it said that as of 2001 Kenya Airways too had placed an order for the 764. Were these orders cancelled or were they just deferred to CO and DL?

If I recall correctly, those orders were converted to 777-200ERs.

What were the reasons for the converting of these a/c? Was it b/c they both came out at the same time and b/c the 777 is the best a/c out there they opted for this seeing that it was a better match for their airline.

Kenya Airways ordered the 767-400LR (or ER or ERX or however it was called), as this plane was cancelled, they switched it to the 772, as the 764 doesn't have the required range.

The concept was called 767-400ERX, which more than likely would have become 764LR

The models currently utilized by DL & CO are 764ERs.
