Falcon Air Express

Thu May 13, 2004 4:57 am

I was just wondering what people knew about this company. from the database and their webpage, it seems they've recently added some 737s to their fleet of 727s operated on wet leases and for cruise passengers/ tour operators. I was also interested to see they have 2 aircraft based in South America, perhaps for the Aeropostal contract?

Falcon Air Express (FAO), call (Panther) is based in MIA, powered mostly by Latin -Cuban Americans- staff. Their crew is absolutely amazing and friendly and used to cater the profitable on-demand charter services from the US to Caribbean resorts and Mexico.

It was not long ago purchased? by Pegasus Aviation who as far as I know run its operation.

Fly727- thanks for the info! I see you also fly the 727! Have you flown on them, or met their crews @ the airport? Do they seem to enjoy working for Falcon? I ask becuase I recently saw a help wanted ad for pilots and figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Hi Doug: A few years ago (in my CSA and sometimes bag smashing days) I worked some of their flights in CUN. The crew was really friendly and seemed to enjoy working for Falcon. Small company where everybody knows your name....

Things might have changed over the last two years though, I've witnessed how after Pegasus Aviation did some business with an airline, it quickly went belly up but not before ruining the balanced working atmosphere. Hope that is not the case of Falcon and that it will never be.

I heard Sunworld International, Planet Airways and TransMeridian (companies which I also did some ground handling for) were also hiring... browse through the net a little bit, I'm sure you'll find about it.

BTW, great signature!!!

Falcon Air Express has also taken over the Freeport business of Laker Bahamas, flying charters from Freeport to various US points on less-than-daily frequencies.

Fly- yes, I was also looking into Planet Airways and TransMeridian- and pretty much anyone else who still flies 72s. I beleive Sunworld is all 738s at this point, so with my hours I probably wouldn't be competitive.

thanks all for the info!

ERJ- do the aircraft that come in to RDU where the Falcon livery, another, or does it very?

They have they Falcon Air Express livery.. flies in with a 737.. docks at A20.. but they come in sporatically, but they must have some sort of order to have a gate specifically for them (well, as of Wednesday when UA took the gate. So now it is a dedicated UA/Falcon Air Express gate). I have seen them fly in 3 times so far while I have been spotting.. On a Thursday and on a Saturday...

Another note,

just to differ, most charters go to the Charters apron seperate from the main terminals, so Falcon Air Express MUST have some sort of schedule. They are also on the RDU website.. Miami Air isn't... Pace Airlines isn't.. Midwest isn't.. and they have lots of charters through RDU also!

Extra! Extra!

Falcon Air Express was in RDU today.. departed at ~2:15 or so... picking up and dropping off passengers. It was again the 737 with the Sol Air logo on the tail... What kinda schedule are these people running on? I know they are charter, but they do have their own gate so they must be on SOME kinda schedule...

I flew them on a H.S. grad trip to from IAH to CUN back in 1999. Nice flights on the 72S; however the return we were delayed for about 6 hours for some unknown reason. Never knew much about them. One thing I did notice that the cabin partition was mad of plexiglass without a curtain in the aisle with the Falcon Air Logo etched in it.
