The Future Of Origin Pacific Airways?

Thu May 13, 2004 7:34 pm

Origin Pacific, the small New Zealand regional airline is obviously not doing well after Qantas pulled out of the codeshare agreement. Staff and service cut-backs have been announced to keep the airline flying. Does anyone know what have they decided on the fleet? Looks like the 2 ATR 72s will go, along with some Jetstream 41s. Any information on which aircraft will remain in the fleet will be very much appreciated.

Origin Pacific is taking one ATR 72 out of service. I think around 92 staff have lost their jobs. CHC job's are the hardest hit. Rotorua flights are being cancelled, which is the flight to Nelson which will bring their number of desinations to 14.

Quickly checking their online booking facility, AKL-WLG is down to 2 flights per day with J41, and CHC-WLG flights are all operated by J41. Seems the remaining ATR is not flying anywhere. Are they reducing the number of J41s as well?
