US Airways A/c - Wheres The 'Star Alliance' Logo?

Thu May 13, 2004 9:49 pm

I was just looking at some recent US Airways photos and I noticed that none of the planes have the 'Star Alliance' logo yet.

Does anyone know when it is likely to be applied??

I kinda thought it would have been done overnight the evening before the official joining date, but I guess not.

Thanks

Lee

US officially joined Star May 4th.

I was wondering about the Star Logo myself just yesterday. I guess that it takes more time to apply the decal then simply overnight. The decals will probably be added during a maintenence visit.

FYI US hasn't put the Star Member logo on thier advertisments for GoFares either. Althought they do mention that the fares are valid on codeshare partners. Which means that US is selling $79 one way tickets on UA to ORD. Never saw UA allow that before.

SA is not yet a member.

US is.

They'll apply the stickers as they are able.

The Star Alliance stickers are cool but I dont think they're key to the US Airways operation. If you're a normal passengers, I dont think you'd notice that the logo is or isnt there.

Come on folks. I'll bet it takes longer to order, then manufacture , those decals that 10 days. Plus the aircraft would probably have to pass though a maintanance base after the decals have been distributed by aircraft, size, Ron Over Night (RON) time and then possibly allow time for them to cure after application. Everything isn't instant gratification.

The Star Alliance website introduces US Airways as the newest member. So I guess its official. However does not mention SAA as a member.

However, Star calls itself an alliance of top, prestigious airlines with reputabe histories, who provide the highest quality of service in the airline industry. I would agree with this, Star is a great alliance of some of the best airlines in the world... so why are they now including US Airways, and airline on the brink of bankruptcy, and according to most A.net opinions, as well as my own, an unfavorable, unstable airline? It seems to me Star would wait to see how US Airways turns out, before it makes it a member. Having US Airways now codesharing with so many Star Alliance airlines, and now having US Airways included in Star's reputation, it would be a public relations nightmare to have one of its airlines file bankruptcy.

I know United is having financial troubles also, but it joined Star back in 1992, long before it had any troubles. So lets not say allowing US Airways to join Star, is no different than United.

757KSLC You must be buggin. US Airways is one of the best airlines in the industry, if not the best! Not in terms of mangement or Money wise but when it comes to there employees, I'd have to say besides Continental and American they have the most dedicated and professional employees in the airline industry. So I could see why Star Alliance decided they would be a great fit into the family. And be serious, Star Alliance already got an idea of how US Airways does when US and United decided to code share.

And I don't see what makes United any diffrent from US Airways. US was doing fine back in 1992 and Star Alliance wasn't even launched until May 1997. United and Air Canada Unveiled an alliance agreement but that was all. So back to the main point United is no diffrent from US Airways or any other airline when it comes to financial problems.

I wonder how the Star Logo will look on those B737s that have the bare metal usairways.com scheme. I hope USAir can pull this off, just maybe if the market picks up and with a little luck they will make it.

you do realize that it takes some time to ready an a/c for repainting? and it's not like just taking a spray can and applying it to the fuselage. the a/c will be repainted into star alliance colours. the only question is which a/c will it be? this will be done, more than likely, when they are down for a 'd' check. oh, about the bare metal colours, i wish they left them like this:
